Gaurav Chawla
Born with art, I never had any formal training, just learned from life, inspired by what touches me.
Art has always been my passion since childhood.
Yet, I was working, married, had a beautiful gift, my daughter and then later my son. Life kept me busy, never giving me time for art … or anything else, for that matter.
In 2009 , my son became very ill , as a result I went into a depression , but it led me to rediscover my art.
Nothing will make me forget this bliss again.
Even with an attack of optical neuritis in December, 2009, a right eye that can barely see, loss of color, I am more inspired and active and determined to make time for my painting.
Lines , colors , and shapes a narrative to challenge and enthrall the viewer
Feeling, texture, dimension, my works invite contact and extended viewing. I employ texture and light to communicate to the viewer, not only through the eye but by touch as well.
I hope these paintings and drawings reach out to you as they do me to me and should touch a positive chord inside you. People ,my friends, my colleagues and my associations over the years derive different feelings from my work, my aim is to inspire emotion within the viewer, to allow him to feel a powerful connection. I do feel my pieces may be distorted, abstract, realistic, textural, expressionistic, impressionistic or traditional but my art depicts beauty and spiritual expressions and we as mere souls cannot ignore to notice the inside beauty.
During all these years that I have been painting, I have been inspired and influenced by different artists at different periods of time. Initially I started painting with oils and later tried other mediums too. But now I paint mostly in Acrylics medium..
I have had several group shows to my credit and have sold many paintings in India and abroad.
